01 BUGATTI Eyewear Collection

Sie baut auf der bereits erfolgreichen und stilbildenden Bugatti Collection One auf, die im Februar 2023 in Mailand vorgestellt wurde. Die Collection Two besteht aus 16 sorgfältig kuratierten Modellen, die von den außergewöhnlichen Hypersportwagen der Marke inspirierte Details aufweisen. Dazu gehören das unverwechselbare rote Macaron-Emblem, die präzise gelaserte Kühlergrillstruktur, das berühmte ‘EB‘-Logo und die unverkennbare Signatur von Ettore Bugatti.

Für die neuen Brillen von Bugatti wurden luxuriöse Materialien verwendet, darunter 925er Sterlingsilber, Kohlefaser, Makassar-Ebenholz mit Perlmutt-Intarsien, Titan Grad 5, 18 Karat Gold und schwarze Palladium-Akzente. Im Einklang mit Bugattis kompromisslosem Streben nach Perfektion wurde jede Brille sorgfältig entworfen, um einen einzigartigen Stil mit luxuriöser Ästhetik zu erzielen.

It builds on the already acclaimed and trendsetting Bugatti Collection One, which launched February 2023 in Milan. Collection Two consists of 16 beautifully curated styles, which feature poignant details inspired by the brand’s performance-defining hyper sports cars. Included are the unmistakable red macaron emblem, precision laser cut radiator grill patterning, the famous ‘EB’ logo and Ettore Bugatti’s distinct signature.

Die Vollendung der kreativen Synthese von Larry und Bugatti für die Kreation von Brillen, die der Vision von Ettore gerecht werden, nahm zwei Jahre in Anspruch. Die Collection One nutzt die Alchemie, die sich einstellen kann, wenn zwei bahnbrechende Visionäre zusammenarbeiten, um die derzeitigen Normen und Grenzen der Designwelt zu sprengen.

Für die Kreation der Collection One wurden Materialien und Herstellungstechniken entwickelt und eingesetzt, die bislang in der Brillenindustrie unbekannt waren. Alle Brillen werden in Japan mit größter Sorgfalt aus massivem 925er Sterling Silber mit 18-karätigem Gold und Palladium gefertigt – den teuersten Materialien der Welt.

Der Einsatz der physikalischen Gasphasenabscheidung (PVD) – ein Verfahren, bei dem ein Feststoff in einem Vakuum verdampft und auf der Oberfläche der Brille abgelagert wird – ist ein weiterer wichtiger Durchbruch für die Brillenindustrie, der bei der Kreation der Collection One erstmals erfolgreich umgesetzt wurde. Die PVD erzeugt eine diamantähnliche Beschichtung und somit eine hochgradig verschleißfeste Oberfläche, die auch bei der Entwicklung und Produktion der Automobile von Bugatti zum Einsatz kommt.

Die Verwendung von Carbonfaser und Makassar-Ebenholz sowie das Aufgreifen des berühmten „Macaron“-Logos aus roter Emaille sind weitere makellose Designiterationen in Hommage an die Automobile von Bugatti. Eine aufwendige Drahteinlage, die in mehreren Schichten gefertigt wird, um das zeitlose Muster des hufeisenförmigen Kühlergrills der Bugatti Hypersportwagen aufzugreifen, verbindet bei allen 37 Modellen auf exquisite Weise das Gestern mit dem Heute.

The creative synthesis between Larry and Bugatti to create eyewear that stands true to Ettore’s vision took two years to complete. Harnessing the alchemy that can be brought to the fore when two pioneering visionaries work together, Collection One goes beyond current design norms and boundaries.

Materials and manufacturing techniques never seen before in the eyewear industry were developed and employed to create Collection One. Each piece is meticulously crafted in Japan, from solid 925 sterling silver trim with genuine 18k gold and palladium; the most expensive materials in the world.

The use of Positive Vapor Deposition (PVD) – a process in which a solid material is vaporized in a vacuum and deposited onto the surface of the product – is another key breakthrough for the eyewear industry that’s been first successfully employed during the creation of Collection One. The PVD acts as a Diamond Like Coating, a surface that is highly resistant to wear and is also used throughout the development and production of Bugatti automobiles.

The use of carbon fiber and Macassar ebony is another impeccable design iteration that pays homage to Bugatti’s automobiles, as does the use of the famed red enamel Macaron. An intricate custom wirecore, developed in sheets to mirror the timeless grill pattern that adorns each Bugatti hyper sports car’s horseshoe radiator, forms an exquisite fusion of the ‘then’ and ‘now’ on each of the 37 examples.

Il aura fallu deux années de travail créatif et d’échanges entre Larry Sands et Bugatti pour créer des lunettes qui soient fidèles à la vision d’Ettore. Exploitant l’alchimie qui opère lorsque deux visionnaires travaillent ensemble, Collection One repousse les normes établies et les limites du design.

Cette dernière a nécessité le recours à des matériaux rares et le développement de techniques de fabrication inédites, jamais encore utilisées dans le domaine de l’optique. Chaque pièce est méticuleusement fabriquée au Japon, à partir d’argent sterling 925 garni d’or véritable 18 carats et de palladium – les matériaux les plus chers au monde.

L’utilisation de la technique nommée « PVD » en anglais – un processus dans lequel un matériau solide est pulvérisé sous vide et déposé sur la surface des lunettes – pour la création de Collection One constitue une autre avancée majeure pour l’industrie. Le « PVD » agit comme un revêtement diamant en créant une surface très résistante à l’usure et au temps, à l’instar de ce qui est utilisé pour les véhicules Bugatti.

L’utilisation de la fibre de carbone et de l’ébène de Macassar tout comme l’usage du célèbre macaron rouge émaillé, sont autant d’illustrations de la volonté de rendre hommage aux hypersportives Bugatti. Sur chacune des 37 créations, l’emploi d’un fil métallique complexe réalisé sur mesure et travaillé en feuilles pour faire écho à l’intemporelle grille de radiateur en forme de fer à cheval que l’on retrouve sur les Bugatti modernes, permet de créer un lien exquis entre le passé et le présent.
